BLACK HISTORY MONTH

These are a series of illustrations I made for an article in Spark Magazine. They portray many different aspects of Black History Month.

This illustration represents the different movements and protests about "Black Lives Matter".

This part covers the area of how African Americans are portrayed in the media, and how Black Panther had a impact on that.

This illustration shows the feeling of isolation this woman felt in an mostly white school and how during Black History Month it only makes her stick out more.
BEAUTY STANDARDS AROUND THE WORLD

Face tattoos are considered beautiful in New Zealand.

Lip plates in Ethiopia are considered to be beautiful.

In Burma, long necks are achieved with stacked rings. This is considered beautiful.

Crooked teeth is considered youthful and beautiful in Japan.
Graphics
These are extra things I design for them as a
graphic designer. This includes: merchandise,
graphics, event posters, snapchat filters, you name it!

SNAPCHAT GEOFILTER DESIGN
Spark asked me to design a snapchat geo-filter for an issue party they were hosting!
This was my first attempt to design one and it was very exciting. I decided to go with a geometric theme and used the color palette they recommended to me. I built it in illustrator and submitted it!
Super fun stuff~

MERCHANDISE DESIGN
They asked me design a small design to put on a hat. I decided to go with a white hat with red text to make it pop more. I wanted to go simple with this and had many different versions made at first, but this was the most popular one with the communication team.
Below are the sticker designs for some more merchandise. The final desicion was the spark with a white rectangle around it but I also thought of many other variations of it.

These were made during the application process
for the graphic design position. First, they asked us
to take some of the photos and transform them
however we want through graphics and layers.
I just doodled around and came up with these!
Enjoy~
